Due: All Give a Little handouts should be finished and TURNED IN!

In class, students worked in pairs and (using the iPads) researched different charities. Then, they created flow charts showing the problem, solutions, and community involvement available for their charity.

In class, students had 15 minutes to finish their Give a Little work. Then, they worked in groups to complete a venn diagram comparing the 2 charity organizations they read about in the book.

In class, students completed a journal where they had to consider living without a necessity (such as lights, shoes, AC/Heat, etc). Then, students continued reading their section in Give a Little and worked on the handout.

In class, students completed a journal where they had to consider the struggle it would be to get themselves to an emergency room without transportation. Then, students continued reading the 2nd section of Give a Little and working on their handout.

HW: We are collecting money to donate at the end of this unit! Students are encouraged to bring in any change they have laying around the house to donate!

In class, we looked over some "good" samples of Text-to-Self paragraphs. Then, students listened to Bohemian Rhapsody and chose a line from the song that they could connect to somehow, and completed their second T2S paragraph. Then, students received their 2nd book handout and got started reading the next section in Give a Little.

In class, students read an article from the Wall Street Journal entitled "Please Help!". Then, they answered questions about the article. Then, students had time to finish their reading from Give a Little, answer the questions, define the words, and write their stickystat. If they finished all of this, they could read an independent reading book.

In class, students completed a journal comparing nonfiction to fiction texts. Then, students were assigned a country and they had to complete a "Country Profile" for their country using cia.gov on the iPod.

In class, students turned in their LA TOC. Then, I introduced our next book, Give a Little, and students completed a text-to-self comparison paragraph for "Imagine" by John Lennon.

**Also, starting tomorrow, students will be required to have their iPod (charged) and independent reading book in class for a participation grade. They are also expected to be working on the "Do Now" (from the board) as I enter the classroom.
