Due: Book in class!

In class students took their 1st vocabulary quiz of the 3rd quarter and then had the rest of the period to read their independent reading books.

Due: Entire rough draft of your essay should be finished!

In class, students received awards for their poetry from last quarter. Then, they traded their rough drafts with another student in class and edited/proofread their partner's essay.

HW: (1) Study Vocab. for quiz tomorrow
(2) Bring a book to class for a grade

In class students wrote their 3rd body paragraph and conclusion paragraph! Yay! The entire rough draft is complete!

HW: If you haven't finished any part of your rough draft (intro, body #1, body #2, body #3, or conclusion) -- finish them tonight!

In class, students had time to read their independent reading books. Then, I explained how to write your 2nd body paragraph, and students had time to work.

Due: Intro Paragraph

In class, students received their 1st vocabulary list for the 3rd quarter. Then, we looked at a "good" example and a "bad" example of a TEPS paragraph from last week. Finally, students had time to start writing their 1st body paragraph for their School Issues Essay.

HW: (1) vocab. ws or illustration
(2) Finish body paragraph #1
(3) bring a book tomorrow!

Due: Essay Outline & book in class

During class, students reviewed the different types of persuasion by creating skits with their groups. Then we discussed out to write an effective and well organized introduction paragraph & thesis statement. Finally, students had time to start writing their own intro paragraphs for their school issues essay.

HW: Finish introduction paragraph!
